DOOR CARE ADVICE / RECOMMENDATIONS

EXTERNAL DOORS

Our doors are extremely well made using the very best materials and workmanship but wood is a natural product and if doors are not properly protected and correctly fitted you will more than likely experience problems.

We take a great deal of care to ensure you receive the highest quality product possible but unfortunately once the doors/ windows leave us we have no control over the conditions to which they are exposed and therefore cannot accept any responsibility for 'moisture related' problems, wood is a natural product, and even the most well made external doors made from it should be expected to move slightly in response to changes in humidity and temperature. In the long term, this movement is likely to be minimal and barely noticeable, but in the short term (after the first winter) minor adjustment may be required to take account of 'settling in' movement. If adjustment is required be sure to fully finish the bare areas immediately after.

We highly recommend the fitting of doors be carried out as quickly as possible to avoid any twisting or warping. Our doors are made from solid wood and very heavy please bear this in mind when fitting, you will need at least three good quality heavy duty hinges and at least one good quality heavy duty carpenter.

It is crucial to seal external wood doors immediately on both sides (inside and out) and to all edges with a product suitable for external use. We use and recommend Sikkens Cetol, Osmo and Teknos products. These can all be bought from ourselves or most good paint retailers.

	Sikkens Cetol is one of the finishes we use and recommend for external doors. Sikkens is available in a range of colours the most popular we have found is Light Oak we also use Ebony or Walnut for a darker finish. We can apply a base coat of this for you in the workshop for a fee of:- £20 + VAT per door £30 + VAT per door & frame - large orders p.o.a. You will then need at least two layers of Topcoat which is best applied on site we can supply in 1 ltr tins for £20 + VAT per tin
	Osmo UV protection oil is another external finish we offer it's relatively new to us but very popular. We can apply a base coat of this for you in the workshop for a fee of:- £20 + VAT per door £30 + VAT per door & frame - large orders p.o.a. You will then need at least another coat which is best applied on site we can supply in 0.75 ltr tins for £18 + VAT per tin
Sikkens and Osmo Combined	Sikkens and Osmo Combined a popular combination offers more protection from UV rays than Osmo alone We can apply a base coat of Sikkens for you in the workshop for a fee of:- £20 + VAT per door £30 + VAT per door & frame - large orders p.o.a. You will then need to apply the Osmo UV oil on site 0.75 ltr tin £18 + VAT per tin
	Teknos Paint Finish - Factory Sprayed Primer coat £20 + VAT per door £30 + VAT per door & frame - large orders p.o.a. Full Factory Spray Paint Finish - Available in many colours This includes one coat of primer, end grain sealer and two coats of Teknos topcoat Door only £70 + VAT Door and frame £95 + VAT
